Using a hand-held tool, yarn is punched through a canvas backing to create both cut and loop piles. A secondary fabric anchors the yarn, resulting in a dense, heavy-weight rug with a soft, plush feel underfoot. Carving and shearing techniques add layered dimension and refined texture.
